FAQ

How many PCs can be connected to my broadband connection?
You can only directly connect one PC to your broadband connection, via the use of a USB modem. However, you can connect more than one PC to your broadband connection by the use of a wired or wireless router modem.

Can I still use my telephone line while I am connected to the internet via broadband?
Yes. You can still take telephone calls, faxes and even access the internet via a dial-up internet connection from another PC, with your broadband connection. You will receive a bill from your current telephone operator for telephone calls as per normal.

Can I keep the same email address?
Yes. Your broadband connection only affects the way you connect to the internet - not your email settings. You maybe required to alter your outgoing email server, but this is an easy thing to do, which we would happily guide you through.

Why can I only receive up to 1Mb, and not 2Mb broadband?
There are a few reasons why you may not be able to get 2Mb broadband on your line; you may live too far from the exchange, the quality of your telephone line may be poor, or the line capacity may not allow you to receive a higher speed service. Unfortunately there is no solution if you live too far from the exchange or if your line quality is poor. With broadband technology constantly improving, you may be able to receive 2Mb soon. Our up to 8Mb options generally allow faster speeds on your line, than our standard 512Kb, 1Mb, and 2Mb packages - view further information

I already have broadband, can I use your broadband service?
Yes, you will be able to use our broadband service. You will need to contact your current provider for your MAC. For more information on switching your current broadband to us - please click here

Do you support migrations to and from other service providers using MAC Codes?
Yes, we do support migrations to and from other service providers using MAC codes. If you are interested in migrating to one of our broadband packages, please view further information

Do I have to pay internet call charges whilst using broadband?
No, all you pay is your broadband subscription each month. You can stay on as long as you like, without paying a single penny more - however, if you are on one of our capped products, you may need to monitor your usage to stay within your limits.

How many line filters do I require?
You will require one filter, per active telephone socket. For example, your house has three sockets, one in the study with a phone and PC in it, one the in the lounge for Sky and your phone/fax machine, and one in your bedroom - that is unused. In this situation, you will require 2 filters

Do you block Peer 2 Peer (P2P) and file sharing?
We do not block any ports on our network, nor restrict access to P2P

Is your broadband suitable for online gaming?
Yes, all of our broadband options are suitable for online gaming, whether based on the PC, or a games console. View information on setting up your games console for using broadband.

Is your broadband Mac compatible?
Yes, our broadband is compatible with the Mac, however, we recommend that Mac users use a router instead of a USB modem.
