Broadband: Windows XP Setup

Follow these simple instructions for setting up a broadband connection - with a USB modem. If you are using a router modem - the setup is different, as you have to set it up on the modem itself - please consult the router's manual.

  1. Click Start > Control Panel > Network Connections
  2. On the left menu, select the option to 'Create a New Connection' to start a New Connection Wizard and then click Next
  3. Select the 'Connect to the Internet' option and then click Next
  4. Select the 'Setup my connection manually' option and then click Next
  5. Select the 'Connect using a dial-up modem' option and then click Next
  6. From the list, select the USB ADSL modem for your Broadband connection making sure that no other modems are selected and then click Next
  7. Enter a name for the Dialup Connection such as 'Zaggle Broadband' and then click Next
  8. In the Phone number field enter in - 0,38 - and then click Next
  9. Enter your Broadband username and password which you registered when you signed up for the Broadband account. Your broadband username can be found within 'My Account' on the 'ADSL Order Progress' tab
  10. You have now created a new Broadband connection. It is advised to tick the checkbox to add a shortcut on your computers' desktop - to make it easier to connect to your broadband connection. Now click Finish
  11. This will then launch a connection attempt to connect to the Broadband account with your username and password pre-populated into the connection. It is advisable to save your username and password when making this connection to save you having to retype it continuously
